Moment of inertia and dynamical rotational response of a supersolid dipolar gas

We show that the knowledge of time dependent response a trapped gas, subject to sudden rotation confining harmonic potential, allows for determination moment inertia dipolar supersolid configurations. While in presence one-dimensional arrays droplets frequency resulting scissors oscillation provides accurate access value inertia, two-dimensional like configurations are characterized by multi-frequency structure rotating signal, reflecting significant rigid body components rotational motion. Using formalism function theory and simulations based on so-called extended Gross-Pitaevskii equation, we point out crucial role played low its deviations from irrotational value. also propose protocol stationary trap, followed stop, which might provide promising alternative experimental evaluation inertia.
